1. Information We Gather
We control the information you give us, and we can be reached in the care of our counsel at The VerStandig Law Firm, LLC, 9812 Falls Road, #114-160, Potomac, Maryland 20854.
a. What You Directly Give Us. When signing up to use the App, and/or while using the App, we will ask for information that may include your e-mail address, mailing address, nationality, date of birth, and telephone number. We will also ask you to create a username and password. And if you win certain prizes that require us to issue you tax paperwork, we may also ask for your Social Security number, but we will hold off on asking for that specific piece of information unless and until it is absolutely necessary to give you a prize you have won. We may also ask you to participate in surveys from time to time and, if you choose to participate, we will collect your answers the subject questions which, in many cases, may be demographic in nature and may be used by us to get a better understanding of the categories of persons who are using our App.
b. What You Indirectly Give Us. As you use the App, we may also collect your IP address, information on the type of device you are using to access the App (including the software being run on that device), information on your mobile operating system, crash reports (though we hope those do not come to pass), and the data generated by your use of the App itself (what you click on, what answers you give to questions, etc.). Additionally, we may use geotracking software to monitor where our users are, and this would give us information on your location. We also monitor your use of the App to ensure our contests are conducted fairly and honestly, and that no cheating or underhanded activity is taking place.
c. App Store. We receive some limited information about you in connection with your downloading of the App. By way of anecdote, we might receive your username for an app store and/or a device ID assigned to your mobile device. We do not receive your password, we do not have access to your financial information, and we most certainly do not have access to other apps on your mobile device.
d. Third Parties. We may receive information from third parties, like Facebook or Game Center, when you use these services in connection with the App. We may also receive information about you when other players choose to share their contact lists with us.
2. What We Do With the Information.
We primarily use your information to ensure the fidelity of our contests and to generate a better understanding of who is using our App. That certainly involves putting together demographic information for marketers and other third parties to whom we may sell advertising, but your personal information will not be given to any third party in a manner that makes you specifically identifiable. Rather, we will relay to third parties information about the categories into which our users fall, and what percentage(s) of our users meet certain demographic standards. So, by way of example, we will never tell a specific advertiser that John Doe is an 18 year old man in Biloxi, Mississippi, who often gets the correct answer to questions about one hit wonders from the 1980s; but we might tell an advertiser that a certain percentage of our users are between the ages of 13 and 18, that a certain percentage of our users are in the southern portion of the United States, and that we have a large percent of users who seem well versed in music that was once played on cassette tapes. We also use the information for some technical purposes: by way of example, if people are having issues using the App, we will look at whether or not they all share a common mobile device model, a common operating system, or some other uniform technical trait. And, yes, when we communicate with you directly, we may look at your information to help us do so more effectively.
3. Protecting Your Information.
We keep your information on a secure system, which is protected by various technological implements. But we also want to be upfront that no set of security protocols is perfect, so while we will always try to protect your information, we cannot guarantee the security of your information and do not assume any responsibility for the unauthorized use or access to your information under our control.
4. Children Under 13
We require everyone who uses the App to be at least thirteen (13) years of age. We take our obligations under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act quite seriously, and have determined that the only safe means of complying with this federal law is to not offer our App to children under the age of thirteen (13).
